Platinum Structural Steel — structural steel and steel beam installation

Market

Institutional, Education & Healthcare

Schools, labs, hospitals and universities, phased around people who cannot leave the building.

Institutional work has the tightest constraints in the market. Schools have a summer window. Hospitals have infection control and departments that never close. Labs have equipment that cannot be shut down and vibration limits that most contractors have never had to meet.

Platinum works inside those constraints on structural steel scopes across Greater Boston's institutional building stock.

Typical scopes

  • School additions, gym and cafeteria framing, summer-window renovations
  • University lab and research building fit-out steel
  • Hospital equipment support, MRI and imaging suite framing, rooftop dunnage
  • Elevator, stair and shaft framing cut into existing institutional buildings
  • Mezzanines, catwalks and equipment platforms in mechanical spaces

Project planning

Conditions we plan around

Hard schedule windows

A school addition that is not weather-tight by the first day of classes is a public problem. We build to the window that exists, and we say up front when a schedule is not achievable.

Infection control and containment

Healthcare work requires ICRA-compliant containment, negative air, and hot work coordination with facilities. We work to the hospital's protocol and its permit process, not around it.

Vibration and noise limits

Research buildings have equipment sensitive to vibration. Cutting, coring and setting steel gets scheduled with the facility's research operations, often overnight.
